benevolence
how does benevolence work?
At Trellis we believe God calls us to be generous and charitable. As such, our congregation strives to keep a benevolence fund available for anyone in financial need to submit a benevolence request.
The Benevolence Fund is a limited financial fund, made available by application to anyone struggling financially due to unforeseen circumstances. The money is granted as a gift, and repayment is not expected. However, if you are blessed in the future and would like to help someone else, you may repay the gift. It will be used to help someone else in need.
We ask that you fill out a simple form explaining the nature of the support being requested and how we can contact you. Your request will be reviewed and you will be contacted if more information is needed. Once our complete form has been submitted, it may take up to two weeks to receive funding, if approved.

We offer support for a range of needs. We have provided rental assistance, support with medical or automobile issues as well as providing gift cards for groceries. Whatever your need is, we encourage you to submit a request, we may not be able to fill it, but we believe there is value in starting the conversation.

We try to avoid directly handing out cash. Sometimes we will get connected directly to a landlord or medical billing assistant in order to make a payment. Other times we may plan to meet up and give a gift card for a grocery store, gas station, etc.

Not at all! The money is granted as a gift, and repayment is not expected. However, if you are blessed in the future and would like to help someone else, you may repay the gift. It will be used to help someone else in need. We believe everyone will need help at some time or another. Likewise, we hope that everyone desires to share in their good fortune when they have the opportunity to do so.

No. We encourage you to request help via the benevolence form if you’re hoping for physical support (such as help moving).
We also have a quarterly chore day where everyone is invited to request help with physical chores or labor. If you are looking for emotional or spiritual support, we encourage you to simply reach out to anyone on staff.
We also believe that the best for the church to meet the needs of their community is through intentional relationships. We encourage you to join us on Sundays and plug into a house church.
